Overall Scores: 20/30
Criteria A: 7
- I think I had a pretty good understanding of the text because I brought in the larger novel as a whole and what it was about as well as gave a detailed account of what was happening in this passage. I also gave a prerequisite, as in talking about the very first conversation Tommy had with Miss Lucy about his art which was a few years before this conversation which was crucial to this conversation in this excerpt.
- I felt as though I could have given more background information but I was worried about going over the time mark.
Criteria B: 6
- I feel confident about what I said about the literary devices used in this excerpt but, given that it was just me who was talking, I felt like I was almost forgetting what I had already said and may have been repetitive in what I talked about. Comparably, in this same way I feel like I was going back to a device I had already talked about after another one would jog a point I felt like I needed to make. I felt like I had a good understanding of the devices used but I worry that I accidentally may not have been as organized with explaining them as I could have been. I definitely think I needed to say explicitly what effect my literary devices had on the readers and I believe I may have forgotten that.
Criteria C: 4
- This ties into what I was saying above. I feel like I may have been a little bit unorganized given that I was trying to remember points I had already made and was trying to make sure what I was saying was clear at the same time. I felt like I knew what I needed to talk about, though.
Criteria D: 3
- I felt like overall my IOC was coherent and able to be understood. I did have a few pauses as I would sort of lose track of what I was saying, but that's sort of a given when you're the only one that's talking. I thought my language was clear and appropriate.
Hey Natalie!
ReplyDelete- Good organization at the beginning
- You maintain strong focus- I like that you selected several themes to examine and organize your commentary that way, selecting techniques used to establish said theme *you seem a bit flustered at the end*
- You do a nice job examining the effect of the techniques on the text, but be sure to also discuss the effect the techniques have on the reader (criteria B on the rubric)
- What is the overall effect?
A: 6
B: 6
